Tailgate stop on the way.....

One of the stops on the way to tailgating is at the old homestead. This home is a living scrapbook of photos, paintings, model airplanes and you are guaranteed a drink and a present, and asked to pose for a photograph. This is the oldest house of my life experience. I remember when my Grandma and Grandpa lived here and there was a school yard in their backyard. We loved to play with the cousins and run around. Some day I will really miss this place, I don't have to yet.

Tailgate Reunion

What a difference a year makes! This is a shot of our family reunion at the Shopko Plaza parking lot before the NFC Championship Game last year. The Packers were taking on the New York Giants for a trip to the Super Bowl. If that same team was together this year I think it is show time. The Giants without Plaxico aren't the same... and who would have stopped them, the Cardinals? ha....

It was cold tailgating. I still think about how cold it was during the game after 4 hours in the parking lot. When it is such a terrible winter this year, I remember the cold, the loss, the ice and the end of a Packer career.

Tailgate opportunities even a bad night....

This is a shot from the 2004 Titans/ Packers game. It was a terrible game. Monday Night Football! The Packers lost 48-27. Steve McNair vs Brett Favre. The only one performing at his best was Donald Driver. He had 10 catches for 150 yards. We ran into some friends from our church. We cheered and booed and gave it our best shot. Even a bad night at Lambeau is better than a good night at most other places.

Tailgate opportunities --- in ruins

This is an image of the 2008 Green Bay Packers defensive coaches hall of fame. Coaching is a tough gig in the big leagues. They usually fire guys on Christmas Eve or some other appropriate date. Does it suggest that the wrong choices were made on hiring the coaches in the first place? Some people blame the poor results on injuries, bad luck, or just a couple of inches on a couple of field goals.

Actually we know the real reason, getting rid of Brett Favre. You don't need to fire the defensive coaches for that.

Lambeau Tailgaters Cleaning House.

Lambeau doesn't quite look the same after TT and MM got done this season. It looks a little bleak as they cleaned house on the coaching staff. It seems to be in ruins.

The only problem with is that it doesn't say much for his original selections for coaches in the first place. Firing a coach when players fail isn't always a solution, it is often a diversion. The last time a head coach started firing people here is when Sherman fired Ed Donatell for the infamous "4th and 18" or was it 4th and 28"?" Whatever it was, someone had to pay for the Eagles converting a first down and winning the game and going on to the NFC Championship a few years back.

Well, let's pick up the pieces....

Lambeau Tailgate--- We'll be back....

Enjoying spectator sports is entertainment. We enjoy winning and associating ourselves with the winner. It can be thrilling and exciting in a way that is unique in life. Writers and TV guys sometimes try to make it more than it is, but really, it is about enjoying games. It is can be reduced trivia or used as an allegory of life.

We complain and theorize and some play fantasy players but one thing is for sure, we'll be back by draft day, mini camps, training camp, and the opening day next year. We'll be back.

Tailgate opportunities---on hold.

If you have ever seen the 60's movie Jason and the Argonauts you can't help looking at this statue of Vince and think of the giant bronze Talos statute that comes to life in the movie. If that would happen now, it would be Vince and Curly thinking what the #**!# is going on around here!

Imagine the giant bronzes coming down from the pedestal and chasing some certain characters around the atrium. Person X and person Y would be running for their lives, with a bronze football coming at them.

I guess we will have to wait for next year. Keep an eye on those bronzes.
